Hawzah News Agency- Speaking at a Muharram mourning ceremony held on the fifth day of the sacred month, Ayatollah Ali Malakooti drew a parallel between the ideology of Yazid in early Islamic history and the actions of contemporary oppressive powers, naming U.S. President Donald Trump as a modern example.
“In contrast to the Yazidi ideology represented today by global oppressors, we have the Husseini ideology embodied by the Supreme Leader, who stands with honor, resistance, and clarity in the face of tyranny,” he stated.
Imam Hussein’s Uprising: A Timeless Source of Awakening
Ayatollah Malakooti highlighted the deeper meaning behind the uprising of Imam Hussein (PBUH), describing it as a movement rooted in the defense of Islam’s honor and the spiritual awakening of nations. “Imam Hussein refused humiliation and submission to an oppressive regime, declaring, ‘He is humiliated who accepts humiliation,’” he said.
He stressed that the event of Karbala was not just a historical incident, but a lasting source of spiritual and social awakening, unmatched in impact by even the most devastating wars in human history.
“History has witnessed vast military campaigns—from Mongol invasions to the world wars—that left millions of dead. Yet they brought no moral awakening. No movement in history ever claimed to follow the path of figures like Genghis Khan or Hitler. But throughout time, countless individuals and movements have declared themselves followers of Imam Hussein,” he added.
Iran: The Sole Challenger to Global Domination
Referring to contemporary geopolitics, Ayatollah Malakooti underscored Iran’s unique position in confronting global hegemony. “Today, the only country that stands with strength and independence against the system of global domination is the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he declared. “While many regional states capitulate or collaborate with the United States, Iran remains steadfast in defending its sovereignty and values.”
He concluded by reiterating that Imam Hussein’s uprising was a response to widespread deviation and spiritual stagnation in his time, awakening society through sacrifice, clarity, and steadfastness—principles that continue to inspire the resistance of the Islamic Republic today.
